This is just a quick note to thank you once again for your kindness in providing the voucher to dine at Depot following the sale of our home in Greenhithe. I noticed it up on the shelf last week and thought to myself, “I must see when that expires...” - when along happened the children who thought it would be a great place to go for lunch after swimming on Sunday.
I was already well aware of the richness of Depot’s non-traditional faire, and knowing how Charlie in particular is given not to want to try new things, nor to enjoy what he hasn’t tried and loved previously, I was initially a little reluctant to commit to going, however they were insistent, so last Sunday the family set out for Depot after swimming lessons.

Now I’m not sure Charlie might not on balance rather have had a Happy Meal if he were totally honest. But for all that – and lots of sampling without eating a lot, mid-meal Charlie decided he wanted to have his next birthday at Depot. The chicken is apparently the very best chicken in the world – and he would know having eaten more than enough to make up for not eating a lot to that point. His eyes were also somewhat saucer-like at the Potato Skins… Depot uses some seriously large potatoes.
Isabelle discovered a real liking for Popcorn Duck tongues, - although we didn’t tell her what they were until a couple of hours later! Charlie ate about half of one and I had a couple and Isabelle demolished the remainder of the dozen or so that came – and in record time. It also has to be said that Amanda and I both wished we’d captured her face at the time of telling – shock, surprise and wonder all at once. And for all that, she still likes them.
I’ve attached a photo taken for us by the waiting staff… it’s the best of several, each of which took more time than I knew it could take to click a shutter on a smartphone camera. Unfortunately they’re not great shots but this is the best and I think you can just about make out that it’s us! And even where we are too, maybe. Thank you so much for the experience – it was appreciated and enjoyed by us all.
Hope all is well with you and yours… community, work, home, Phil, Zeus (or whomever he’s become), children, grandchildren etc etc etc. Isabelle and I popped out to Greenhithe to do a couple of things the other weekend and she asked if we could check if you were in the office but it was probably a little early on a Saturday morning for anyone as it looked like it was closed.
Love to keep in touch as able and of course we invite you to contact us anytime.
Thanks once again and regards,
David (& Amanda, Charlie & Isabelle) Lynn
